Written for mums, not about them
Casual Mums is for single mums in the UK who'd like some grown-up company without taking on a whole new relationship, and for the adults who'd like to meet them. Some members want a regular date for the weekends the kids are away. Some want a night out that ends however both people agree it ends. Some mainly want to remember what flirting feels like.
Casual here means honest and unhurried, not careless. Nobody is auditioning to be a stepdad, nobody is owed your evenings, and anyone can say no, or "not yet", at any point. It's for adults aged 18 and over, and the children stay well out of it. If you're still working out what you want, start with casual or serious; how Casual Mums works covers the mechanics.
02
No free evenings? Try a lunch break
Single parents rarely get a free Friday on demand, so the dates that work tend to fill the gaps: coffee while the children are at school, a lunch hour that stretches to ninety minutes, a Saturday afternoon on the other parent's weekend, or an evening with a sitter booked a fortnight ahead.
Daytime dates have a lot going for them. They cost less, they have a built-in finish time, and meeting somewhere busy in daylight is the sensible first step anyway. Our guide to dating around childcare covers sitters, swapping favours with other parents, and what to say when a plan collapses at 5pm because somebody has a temperature.
03
Keeping it away from your ex and the school gate
Three habits do most of the work. Use your first name or a nickname, and leave your surname and exact area off your profile. Never post a photo that shows your children, their uniform, their school or the front of your home. And sign up with an email address you use only for dating.
The rest, from lock-screen previews to the no-tagging conversation, is in our guide to keeping dating private.

What it costs, without the small-print surprises
Joining, setting up a profile and browsing are free. You pay when you want to read and reply to messages, and the members area shows the exact price of each plan before you pay:

Why someone from a partner site might pop up
Casual Mums shares one member database with partner sites in the same network. Members who joined through those sites can see your profile and message you, and you can see theirs. Each profile shows which site the person joined through.
That means a bigger pool of people to meet, and a bigger audience for whatever you put on your profile. Write it as though anyone might read it, because anyone who joins anywhere in the network can. Our privacy page sets out exactly what is shared.
06
Meeting someone new without the worry
The basics are simple and they work. Meet somewhere public the first time, tell a friend who you're seeing and where, get yourself there and home again, and keep your address to yourself until you've decided you trust someone. Our first-meeting checklist runs through the rest.
If things go further, NHS sexual health clinics are free and confidential, and you don't need a GP referral; the sexual health guide explains how to find one. Anyone who asks you for money is running a scam: report it to Report Fraud in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, or to Police Scotland on 101. The safety page has the full list of who to call.
