"Legit" usually means a few different questions at once: is there a real company behind it, will I be charged for things I didn't expect, and are the people on it who they say they are. Here are honest answers to each, including the parts that are less flattering.

The short version

Who runs Casual Mums?

Casual Mums is run by Ambervine Inc, a Delaware company, 131 Continental Drive, Suite 305, Newark, DE 19713, USA. The casualmums.com domain was registered on 5 April 2024.

The membership itself is provided through the members area at members.casualmums.com, under the members-area terms, which are governed by Delaware law. This website holds the guides; your account, profile and messages live in the members area. About Casual Mums has more on who we are and how we write.

What's free, and what you pay for

Joining, building a profile, browsing and receiving interest are free; reading and replying to messages needs a paid membership. There are weekly and monthly plans, an introductory trial and some optional extras, and the members area shows each price before you pay.

Free Needs a membership
Joining and creating a profile Reading messages
Browsing profiles Replying to messages
Receiving interest from other members Read receipts and seeing who viewed you
Likes and viewing photos in full

Free accounts show adverts. The thing to know: every plan, the trial included, renews automatically until you cancel in Settings > Billing. That's standard for subscription sites, and it's also what catches people out. Our prices page has the current table, how refunds work and a note on currency.

What will show on your bank statement?

The members area shows the billing name for your membership at checkout, before you pay. Check it there and make a note of it. It may or may not mention Casual Mums, which matters if someone else can see your statements; our guide to keeping dating private covers that.

Who you'll meet, and the partner network

Casual Mums shares one member database with partner sites in the same network. Members who joined through those sites can see your profile and message you, and each profile shows which site its owner joined through.

You should know that before you write your profile, not after. In practice it means more people can see you than the name "Casual Mums" suggests, so leave out your surname, exact area and anything that identifies your children. Our privacy page explains what the network means for your data.

What's checked, and what isn't

Photos are reviewed and members' written details aren't, which is the single most important thing to understand about any dating site you join.

  • Photos are reviewed, and the rules exclude nudity and lingerie.
  • Identity: an ID-and-selfie check, carried out by LEM Verify, may be required for sign-ups through a VPN and for flagged accounts. Other members can take it voluntarily and show an ID badge.
  • What people write about themselves (age, area, job, relationship status, intentions) is not checked by anyone.

The members-area terms say plainly that profiles and conversations may not always be what they seem. We think you should hear that from us rather than discover it. A badge is a good sign, not a guarantee of character, and a missing badge proves nothing either way.

Is Casual Mums a scam?

No: it's a real, paid service with published terms, a named operator and a free tier you can use before paying. The risk on any dating site is less the site and more the occasional person on it who isn't genuine.

Warning signs in a person, rather than the site:

  • they ask for money, gift cards or bank details, for any reason;
  • they push to move off the site to a messaging app straight away;
  • they always have a reason not to video call or meet;
  • they show unusual interest in your children.

Never send money to someone you've met online. Keep chats on the site at first, video call before meeting, and report anything that worries you through the members help centre. Our safety page lists the warning signs in full and who to report fraud to in each part of the UK.

Before you pay: a five-minute check

  1. Browse first. Use the free account to see whether there are people you'd like to talk to.
  2. Read the plan details in the members area, including the price and the renewal period.
  3. Note the billing name shown at checkout.
  4. Set a reminder a day before the plan renews, so you decide on purpose.
  5. Know the exits: Settings > Billing to stop renewals; avatar > Settings > Delete Account to leave.

If you're charged and don't recognise it

Contact the members help centre with the email on your account, the date and the amount. Don't send your full card number. The contact page explains what to include.

If you can't resolve a charge with the help centre, your card provider can tell you what options you have. For general help with consumer problems, Citizens Advice is a good place to start.

How to leave

  • Stop renewals: Settings > Billing. You keep what you've paid for until the end of the period.
  • Delete your account: click your avatar, then Settings > Delete Account.

Cancelling alone leaves your profile visible. To leave completely, do both.

Who Casual Mums suits, and who it doesn't

It suits adults who want something casual, are comfortable with a subscription that renews until cancelled, and are happy to use their own judgement about the people they meet. It's not the right place if you want every member's identity checked before you talk to them, or if you're looking for a long-term partner and a family introduction. Read how it works first, and decide for yourself.

Questions people ask

What will my card statement say?

The members area shows the billing name for your membership at checkout, before you pay. Make a note of it there so you recognise the charge when it appears, and so it doesn't look like a mystery payment months later. If a charge on your statement still doesn't make sense, contact the members help centre with the date and amount.

Are the profiles real?

Photos are reviewed, but what members write about themselves, such as age, area and intentions, isn't checked. Some members show an optional ID badge, which means they passed an ID-and-selfie check. The members-area terms also say profiles and conversations may not always be what they seem, so keep chats on the site, video call before meeting and never send money.

Will I be charged after a trial?

Yes, unless you cancel in Settings > Billing before the trial ends. Every plan, the trial included, renews automatically until you cancel. Cancelling stops the next payment but doesn't delete your profile; to remove that too, click your avatar, then Settings > Delete Account. Put a reminder in your phone the day you sign up.

Can I use Casual Mums for free?

You can join, build a profile, browse and receive interest from other members for free, for as long as you like. Free accounts show adverts. To read and reply to messages you need a paid membership. That makes it easy to look around properly and decide whether the site suits you before you spend anything.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are set by the members-area terms, not by this website. As of 16 October 2026 those terms allowed a pro-rata refund only where at least 40% of the paid period was unused. Check the current terms in the members area before you pay, and contact the members help centre if you think you've been charged in error.
