Casual Mums has two parts. This website holds the guides. Your account, profile and messages live in the members area at members.casualmums.com, which is where you sign up and log in.

Five steps, and the first three are free

  1. Sign up with an email address, a password and your date of birth.
  2. Build your profile: at least one photo, a few lines, and who you'd like to meet.
  3. Browse and see who's around, here and on partner sites.
  4. Upgrade if you want to read and reply to messages.
  5. Cancel or delete whenever you like, in Settings.

Free and paid, side by side

Everything you need to decide whether the site suits you is free. A membership is for when you want to talk.

Signing up

You'll need an email address, a password and your date of birth. You must be 18 or over. Use an email address you keep only for dating: it keeps account emails out of your main inbox, and out of sight of anyone who glances at your phone. Our guide to keeping dating private explains why that matters more than it sounds.

If you sign up through a VPN, or your account is flagged for a check, you may be asked to complete an ID and selfie check before you carry on.

Your profile and photos

Your profile is a few photos and a few lines about you and what you're after. You'll usually need at least one photo. Every photo is reviewed, and the image rules exclude nudity and lingerie. You can also fill in details such as the age range and distance you're interested in, whether you have children, and whether you smoke or drink.

Two things are worth knowing from the start. First, what members write about themselves (age, area, situation, intentions) isn't checked by anyone, so treat it as a starting point for conversation rather than a fact. Second, keep your children completely out of it: no photos of them, no names, no school, nothing that places your home.

Messaging

Reading and replying to messages needs a paid membership. There are weekly and monthly plans, an introductory trial and some optional extras, and the members area shows the price of each before you pay. Every plan renews automatically until you cancel in Settings > Billing. Prices and plans explains the details, including refunds.

Who else can see your profile

Casual Mums shares one member database with partner sites in the same network. Members who joined through those sites can see your profile and message you, and you can see and message them. Each profile shows the site its owner joined through.

So your profile is visible to more people than the Casual Mums name suggests. That's good for choice, and a reason to write it carefully. Our privacy page has more.

The optional ID badge

Any member can choose to take an ID check, carried out for the members area by LEM Verify using a photo ID and a selfie. Members who pass can show a badge. It's an optional paid extra, though members who sign up through a VPN or whose accounts are flagged may be asked to take it.

A badge tells you the person passed an identity check. It doesn't tell you anything else they've said is true, and no badge proves nothing either way. Our safety page and first-meeting checklist cover the checks worth doing yourself.

Leaving

Cancel a membership in Settings > Billing so it doesn't renew. To remove your profile completely, click your avatar, then Settings > Delete Account. Cancelling alone leaves your profile in place, so if you're leaving for good, do both. If you're stuck, log-in help covers the common problems.

Questions people ask

Can I look around before paying?

Yes. Joining, building a profile, browsing and receiving interest from other members are all free, for as long as you like. You need a membership to read and reply to messages. That's enough to see who's around and decide whether the site suits you before you spend anything.

Will people on other sites see my profile?

Yes. Casual Mums shares one member database with partner sites in the same network, so their members can see your profile and message you, and you can see theirs. Each profile shows which site its owner joined through. Write your profile with that wider audience in mind.

Does anyone check that members are who they say they are?

Every photo is reviewed, but what members write about themselves isn't checked. Some members choose to take an optional ID-and-selfie check and show a badge. A badge confirms identity, not honesty, so do your own simple checks before meeting anyone.

Can I join from outside the UK?

Casual Mums is written for mums in the UK, but the members area also accepts sign-ups from a short list of other countries, including Ireland, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man, the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Portugal. You must be 18 or over wherever you live.
